How to Pay

Cancellation and Makeup
If no cancellation notice is given, no makeup lesson is offered. If notice is given 24 hours or more in advance, makeup lessons will be offered the week of master class, during regular lesson time.  If more than one makeup lesson per month is required, we can work together to find a time convenient to both parties. No makeup lessons are offered for missed master classes.

In the case of holidays, or If I need to cancel a lesson, I will normally provide 24+ hours notice and will offer a makeup lesson during the week of master class or at another time convenient to both parties.

Master Class
Usually on the last week of the month (see calendar), master class will replace normal lessons. This hour-long class will give students an opportunity to

  • Hear from other musicians on selected topics.

  • Practice performing.

  • Be inspired through stories and music.

  • Review music theory and technique through games and activities.

  • Share success stories and discuss service opportunities.

Recitals & Events
Students are encouraged to participate in semi-annual student recitals. These will be held in April and October at a piano store and students are encouraged to invite family and friends. (See calendar for specific dates).

Students are also encouraged to hold their own yearly recitals for friends and family. I will hold my own semi-annual in-home recitals for students to observe.

Students are also encouraged to observe other public recitals, such as those held on college campuses. I will provide some information on such opportunities.

It is also beneficial to attend other musical events.

Music Purchases
Students are required to purchase their own music. I will have links to required and other resources on my website so these can be easily ordered. Bert Murdock Music and other stores also have good selections of music.

Service Opportunities
Students are encouraged to participate in quarterly group service opportunities. Suggestions are welcome! These may include playing at rest homes, benefit concerts, firesides, social media events, etc. (See calendar for more details).

Students are also encouraged to take personal opportunities to serve. Ideas include playing in church, teaching someone else, playing at a rest homes, playing for a friend, etc.
